One might believe that Cannes is defined by La Croisette alone. Yet, it is merely the façade. Behind the grand hotels, on the hills of La Californie, along the coves of the Esterel, or offshore on the islands, the city hides places of rare beauty, some of which open only by private introduction. Here are the ones we love, and why.
How to Choose a Wedding Venue in Cannes?
Before speaking of venues, a conviction: the right venue is not the most famous. It is the one that reflects your story. A palace for a reception of two hundred guests from around the world. A private villa for a weekend with loved ones. An island for vows just for two. Four questions always guide our choice: how many guests, over how many days, with what degree of privacy, and what emotion you wish to leave behind.
The palaces of the Croisette
The InterContinental Carlton Cannes
Its white façade and twin domes have become one of the symbols of the Côte d'Azur. A thoroughly renovated Belle Époque palace, the Carlton offers majestic salons, a sea-facing terrace, and a private beach. It is the setting for grand receptions—those where elegance must be immediate.
The Hôtel Martinez
Le Martinez is the Art Deco soul of Cannes. Its geometric lines, luminous spaces, and private beach create a setting of great modernity, ideal for a wedding with a graphic, contemporary aesthetic.
Le Majestic
Facing the Palais des Festivals, the Majestic embodies the Cannes of cinema. Its pool, suites, and beach make it a sought-after address for multi-day celebrations when guests stay on-site. The palaces of the Croisette bring together accommodation, gastronomy, and service under one roof. Their constraint: availability. During the Festival and major conventions, they are booked months, sometimes years in advance.
The villas in the heights of Cannes
La Californie and Super-Cannes
On the hills overlooking the bay, the districts of La Californie and Super-Cannes harbor some of the finest properties on the Côte d'Azur. Terraced gardens, infinity pools, views over the Lérins Islands: these villas offer what no hotel can—absolute privacy. Most are not listed on any rental platform. Their owners open them only to a select few trusted houses.
La Villa Domergue

Built in the 1930s by the painter Jean-Gabriel Domergue, this villa in La Californie is surrounded by Italianate gardens, basins, and water staircases. A setting of rare poetry, for a sunset ceremony facing the bay.
The châteaux of Cannes and its surroundings
Le Château de la Croix des Gardes

Set upon the wooded hillside of La Croix des Gardes, to the west of the city, this château commands views over the entire Bay of Cannes. Its terraced gardens look out over the Croisette, the Lérins Islands, and the red reliefs of the Esterel all at once. It is one of the most exquisite venues in Cannes: close enough to the center for your guests, secluded enough for absolute privacy, with a view that turns every sunset into a moment of the ceremony.

Château de la Napoule
Just minutes from Cannes, in Mandelieu-la-Napoule, this medieval château poised upon the sea was restored in the early 20th century by a couple of American artists. Its gardens, inner courtyards, and terraces over the water make it one of the most romantic wedding venues in the region.

The Lérins Islands
Off the coast of Cannes, Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat offer a pristine natural backdrop, amidst pine trees, coves, and heritage. They lend themselves perfectly to intimate ceremonies, prior to a dinner on the island or a reception on the mainland. Their status as protected sites requires permits and maritime logistics: we devote a full article to them.

Private beaches
A dinner with your feet in the sand, an evening lingering facing the sea: the private beaches of La Croisette and neighboring coves can be privatized for an evening. They are ideal for a welcome dinner on the eve of the wedding or for a party after the reception.
A little further afield: Antibes, Cap-Ferrat, and the hinterland
Half an hour from Cannes, Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc, in Cap d'Antibes, remains one of the Riviera’s most legendary addresses. Further east, beyond Nice, Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat unfolds its gardens at the tip of the Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat peninsula, facing the sea: a palace of timeless elegance, for couples ready to venture a little further from Cannes. In the hinterland, between Mougins and Grasse, bastides and estates surrounded by olive trees offer another, more Provençal light, for a countryside wedding just fifteen minutes from the sea.

What the guides do not say
The finest wedding venues in Cannes all have their own rules. Late-night curfews, sound restrictions, mandatory vendors, venue exclusivity, vehicle access on La Croisette: these details make the difference between a seamless day and one you merely endure. Our role is to know them before you do, so that you never have to think about them.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the most exclusive wedding venue in Cannes? There is no single answer. For absolute privacy, a private villa in the hills remains unmatched. For a grand reception, the luxury palaces on the Croisette offer a level of service that few venues can rival. How far in advance should you book a wedding venue in Cannes? Ideally 12 to 18 months in advance. For a Saturday in June or September in a palace or a sought-after villa, the earlier, the better. Can you visit the venues before choosing? Yes. We arrange site visits on-site or remotely via video for our clients living abroad.
The Right Venue
A wedding venue is never merely a backdrop. It is the first character of your story, the one your guests discover before anything else. In Cannes, we know where to find it. With all my elegance, Sandrine Arnould — Founder, Luxury Events Agency
